UAAP 2008 Opening on July 5

The UAAP 2008 is the 71st season of the competition slated to open this July 5, 2008 at the Araneta Coliseum.

An incentive for a UAAP sweep will give the any team an advantage in the finals. This means that if any team makes it to the finals with a win-loss record of 14-0, they will only need to win 2 games in the finals while the challenger will have to win 3 in order to clinch the championship.

The University of the East (UE), coached by Dindo Pumaren, pulled off the feat last season with a 14-0 sweep. However, de la Salle University pulled a victory in the finals.
