CHED suspends classes on college levels

The Commission of Higher Education (CHED) announced around 11PM last night that all classes from the 13 area hit by typhoon Frank will be suspended today, Monday June 23, 2008. This will be the same areas where the Department of Education earlier announced suspension of classes.

The DepEd earlier announced the suspension of classes at the elementary and high school levels in Metro Manila, Cavite, Rizal, Batangas, Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac, Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, La Union, Benguet and Ilocos Norte.

Signal #2 was hailed in Metro Manila and Cavite. Bulacan was flooded.

Roads and thoroughfares across Manila were flooded. Iloilo City was hit the most with waist deep flooding and bridges collapsing.

The ship MV Princess of the Stars operated by Sulpicio Lines capsized at the coast of Romblon. About 700 people aboard were reported to have drowned except for a couple of passengers who survived.
