Pacquiao-Diaz Fight on June 28
Other than the Manny Pacquiao and David Diaz collision for the World Boxing Council lightweight crown, there are two more title fights slated on June 28 at the Mandalay Bay Events Centre here.
The main undercard will pit Puerto Rican Mario Santiago against Mexican Steven Luevanu for the World Boxing Organization featherweight belt, preceded by the Francisco Lorenzo-Humberto Soto battle for the WBC interim super featherweight title.
Santiago holds a 19-win, 1-loss record with 14 knockouts while Luevano, who’s being handled by former world champion Roberto Garcia, carries a 35-1 slate (15 KOs).
Mexican Soto, once mentioned as a possible Pacquiao opponent, totes a 43-6-2 record with 27 KOs as against Lorenzo’s 32-14 card with 14 KOs.
Another Filipino, Dennis Laurente of the Bebot Elorde boxing stable, will make his first appearance in the United States when he tangles with Steve Quinones.
The 30-year-old Laurente (28-3-4 with 14 Kos) is favored over Quinones, 37, in their 10-round duel.
