Isabela town mayor critical in ambush

The town mayor of Maconacon in Isabela province is in critical condition after a lone gunman shot him at close range in Tuguegarao City Wednesday afternoon.
Mayor Francisco Talosig was on board his Hyundai van (SFA 795) when he was shot at the right neck by a still unidentified assasin at around 1:45 p.m. in the village of Caritan Centro.
Talosig was immediately rushed to the St. Paul’s Hospital for treatment and remained in the intensive care unit as of this posting.
Initial investigation revealed that the victim was with a police escort and two village officials when he was shot using a caliber .45 pistol.
