Reproductive Health Bill: Agree or Not?

The controversial Reproductive Health Bill is still pending in the Congress.

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) is pushing the bill to defeat despite the fact that the newly appointed Department of Health Secretary Esperanza Cabral together with the most number of lawmakers are pursuing it to victory.

After the CBCP’s campaign not to vote for the pro-RH candidates, they will continue their fight against the RH Bill regardless of the number of lawmakers who support the passing of the bill. Msgr. Pedro Quitorio III stated that they will remain vigilant in monitoring these people on how they will handle the measure.

On the other hand, the DOH Sectretary Ezperanza Cabral recently repeated her support for the reproductive health at the conferment ceremonies for businesswoman Loida Nicolas Lewis as Eminent Person on population, given by the Forum for Family Planning and Development in Pasig City on January 15. She said she is urging the bill to inflate the population problem of our country.

The people aside from the RH-concerned citizens will still remain bystanders as the bill will be adjudged by the House of Representatives under the ruling of our newly elected president, Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino, Jr. who is a known RH supporter.
