Oks! News from the Philippines

The Philippine President, Gloria Macapagal Arroyo did her 9th and Final State of the Nation Address (SONA 2009).

Inspite of the protests and accusations against her, she will be continue to deliver her message to the people this coming July 27, 2009.

All systems go for the said SONA as they have already secured the area and allowed Maximum Tolerance for those who will be protesting in different areas in Manila, specially at the Batasan Complex where the SONA will be delivered. This would also mark if the President would still running again or will she pushed her position to run in Congress in 2010.

The Philippine Nursing Board Exam Results came out last night with 32,617 examinees passing.

Golda Manto Yap, a graduate of the Felipe R. Verallo Memorial Foundation, got an average score of 86.80 percent and topped the said Nursing Board Exam.

The Nursing Board exam was held last June 6 and 7, 2009. The PRC published the results last July 25, 2009.

The 72nd season of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP Season 72) opens on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at the Araneta Coliseum. The opening ceremonies will be held there as well.

Far Eastern University (FEU) will be the host with this season’s games.

At last! Kobe Bryant will be in the Philippines soon!

Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard and 2009 NBA Finals MVP Kobe Bryant will be going to Manila on July 21 as part of a six-city tour in Asia sponsored by Nike. He is also set to visit Singapore, Taipei, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Chengdu. The tour gives Bryant a chance to check back on young Asians he met in previous tours. He last visited Manila in 2007. Nike will also launch its latest design Nike Dream Season, which is part of Bryant’s signature shoe collection sold exclusively in Asia.
